Dr. Williams has been a Data and Information Management consultant for over ten years. He is a well known speaker, author and consultant on data and information management in both the UK and continental Europe. He provides consultancy and training on a number of central data related issues, including Data and Architecture Management, Data Quality Improvement, Business Process Re-engineering, Methodology Development, Use and Harmonisation (including Euromethod), EDIFACT, Data Analysis, Object Oriented Analysis and Design, Interface Management and Migration Planning and Implementation. Dr. Williams has authored the text "Data Management and Data Description" as well as editing a number of texts on CASE, Repositories and Methodologies.

Dr Williams has been the Conference Chair for the British Computer Societies Data Management Specialist Group on a number of occasions as well as the BCS representative on the SSADM Examination Board in the U.K.. He has provided consultancy support on data related issues and standards for European Union projects in the UK, Ireland, France, The Netherlands, Germany and Belgium as well as supporting EU initiatives in data exchange in Eastern Europe (in Slovenia, Hungary and Poland in particular).

Dr Williams has set up Data Administration and Architecture Management functions at a number of different organisations as well as identifying and defining CASE / Repository strategies for different technical architectures. Dr. Williams has also defined and implemented standards for international co-operation on systems developments and data quality initiatives between partner organisations from different countries with different development methodologies and native languages.

Dr. Williams has been a project manager on a number of EU funded projects and now acts as a technical auditor for the European Union on EDIFACT related matters as well as pioneering the use of object oriented analysis techniques in the arena of interactive electronic data interchange (I-EDI).

Before becoming a full time independent consultant in Data and Information Management Dr. Williams was a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science in the Midlands in England. Since founding Richalis Limited (in 1987) he has spoken at many conferences on data related issues in both Europe and North America. Over this period his clients have included the European Union, The Automobile Associations of the UK, Germany and The Netherlands, Wolters Kluwer in Belgium, the CCTA (the UK Government Centre for Information Systems), The Royal Bank Of Scotland, The Prudential Assurance Company, GlaxoSmithKline Ltd., The Hydrographic Office, The Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions, the British Tourist Authority and the U.K. Department of Social Security.
